No synthetic and harmful dyes!
100% Natural solution to cover gray hair!!
Below are a few henna related questions that I have asked or have been asked during my henna journey (since 2019).
Will Henna color my hair red?
Henna always creates a reddish color. However, if you start with dark hair, you'll end up with a reddish-brown or copper color. If you start with blonde hair, you'll end up with an orangey-red.
If you wish to have black or dark brown hair, using indigo is a great option. It is important that you apply it after you have colored your hair with henna instead of mixing it into the henna paste, as the blue color the indigo gives works over the henna to turn the red dye into a dark brown or black.
What happens when you put henna on gray hair?
Using henna for gray hair is an excellent and healthy alternative to synthetic and harmful dyes. It gives the gray hair a reddish-orange shade while also improving your hair and scalp health through its antimicrobial properties. Also, you can add more ingredients to intensify the color.
How often should I henna my hair?
Every three or four weeks. It depends on how fast our hair grows. If, instead, you are doing treatments for damaged hair with cassia obovata (neutral henna) and other herbs, you can apply them every two weeks.
How Much Henna do I use?
Shoulder length hair - 100 grams (3.5 oz) of powder
Bra strap length - 200-250 grams (7-8.8 oz),
Hip length - 300-350 grams (10.6-12.4 oz)
What are the benefits of applying henna on hair?
Henna helps reduce premature graying of hair, because it's loaded with tannins, a plant compound found in teas that contributes to their rich coloring. Henna contains vitamin E, which helps to soften hair. The natural leaves of the plant are rich in proteins and antioxidants that support hair health.
Can I use henna on my relaxed hair?
Yes! However, It’s not recommended to use henna immediately after relaxing. Wait at least 1-2 weeks to help the hair recoup after the procedure. Moisturize with coconut oil if you prefer additional support for your hair.
Should I apply henna to Wet or Dry Hair?
Either way is fine; whatever makes your hair easier to separate into sections. Hair should be at least towel-dry, or the paste is apt to get thin and runny once it is on.
Can I let henna sit for 6 hours?
Henna takes between 2-6 hours to be absorbed properly into the hair and roots, so you can surely leave it on for 6 hours. In fact, the longer it is left on, the darker and more prominent the color becomes.
Does my hair need to be clean for henna or is it okay if it's oily?
It is better that it's as clean as possible and free from any residue from styling products before applying henna.
What are the advantages of using henna for hair?
The most obvious advantage of using henna to colour your hair is that you're saving yourself from the above-mentioned atrocities of harmful chemicals. Henna, if used in its natural form can make your hair thicker, stronger, silkier, and shinier—thanks to the presence of tannins (a type of plant compound) in it.
Warnings
• If you’ve never used henna to dye your hair, perform a strand test a couple days beforehand to ensure you'll like the results. Apply the dye to a small and inconspicuous strand of hair. Let it sit for two to four hours, then wash it out. Wait for 48 hours and then have a look at the color
* Never buy "black" henna, or anything with added ingredients. Black henna often contains PPD, which is a dangerous chemical that can cause severe allergic reactions.
